![]() Seeing that Twitch makes so much data public, I wanted to try mapping these communities to get a better look at the platform as a whole. These communities form when streamers share the same viewers, like when Netflix knows that the same people are watching “Breaking Bad” and “Weeds.” I have been an avid Twitch user for years and a big part of that has been the communities I’ve found. This means anybody, including an undergrad computer science student (me), can explore viewing habits across the platform. ![]() They make a ton of data available right on the site including a list of every user watching a stream. Twitch, a massive video game live-streaming website, takes a different approach. ![]() ![]() This data is so valuable, it’s no surprise that companies like Netflix and TikTok are complete black boxes when it comes to who is watching what. What you like to watch is one of the most important things a content streaming platform can know about you.
